Candle Care

All of my candles are individually hand poured, crafted and artistically designed from small batches making each one truly one of a kind- no one candle will look exactly like the next. Every effort is made to ensure consistency but please remember that because I don’t machine mass produce, every candle will be slightly unique in terms of aesthetic- color, design, placement, crystals, etc. Due to their nature, Crystals and flowers may vary- also they may vary depending on what is available.  Sometimes you may notice darker or lighter patches or “wet” spots and “frosting” in your container candles. This is not a fault, simply a small blemish where the wax has not adhered to the glass 100%. The top of your candle may appear slightly uneven- this is also just an occurrence of natural soy wax being hand poured.

I use 100% all natural pure soy wax that is renewable, biodegradable, environmentally friendly and non toxic. You never have to worry about breathing in any harmful fumes making my candles a healthier option for you and your family. In fact, the wax blend is so natural and pure that without any coloring, fragrance or decoration- you can actually eat it (some of the decoration are edible as well) I don’t recommend you eat the candle though, please DON’T do that LOL

Safety is always the main priority. Candle care and candle burning is a responsibility, burn wisely!

Candles by Jay Candle Care PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Large decoration on top is for display and does not affect the scent of the candle. Bigger embellishments such as whole flowers, fruit and seashells I highly recommend you remove before lighting- they will catch flame. In the Transformation and Discovery Candle, PLEASE remove butterfly adornment as it is a hair clip made of cloth and you DO NOT want it to burn. Please remove any charms. Charms and crystals can be reused. Crystals and very small, fine pieces are okay to leave in candle when burning.

Don't forget, trim that wick! It is VERY important to trim your wick for your candle to burn properly! Usually they come with the wick trimmed already but if you notice the wick is a little too long-Please evenly trim to ¼th of an inch prior to lighting, you may use a nail cutter or small scissors for this- it’s also important not to trim TOO short either. Wooden Wicks require trimming after each burn. If you do not trim you are essentially trying to light already burnt wood which does not work well. Trim the burn excess wood after each burn. It is completely normal for wood wicks to burn with a high or low flame, dance, sway and crackle when lit

The key to a perfect burning candle is not only in how it is made but also in how it is burned. The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. This may take a couple hours. This will prevent your candle from “tunneling”, because believe it or not- wax does has a “wax memory” and you want your burning pattern to be right the first time.

NEVER leave a burning candle unattended- ALWAYS be within close range of your lit candle. Don’t leave your home and never fall asleep without putting the flame out of your lit candle.  Keep candle flame away from drafts, pets and children. Do not place lit candles where they can be knocked over. Always let wax harden and completely cool down before relighting, touching or moving.

Only burn candles on an even, HEAT RESISTANT surface AWAY from anything that can catch fire (paper, bedding, curtains etc.) Container may become hot to the touch. If you think your candle is becoming too hot, I recommend you place your candle in a bowl of water to cool the container down.

FAQs

How long will it take to receive my order?

I make most of the candles and oils specially for you once ordered. Due to the nature of this, please allow 7-14 Business Days for completion of order. After this, your candles will be sent via USPS Priority Mail. You will be notified of a tracking number by email. Always feel free to contact me with the status of your order

What are your fragrance oils made of?

I use a blend and a variety of both fragrance oils and essential oils. All of my fragrance oils are phthalate FREE. Phthalate's are man made chemical "plasticizers"that can be harmful and are linked to many health issues. I wanted to keep consistency with a healthier, better for you and the environment candle.

Why won't my wick stay lit?

Hold on- don't panic! Most of the time, this is because you have not trimmed your wood wick first.

Make sure your wood wick is trimmed to 1/4 of an inch. It is not uncommon to have to relight your wood wick a couple times before it stays lit.The heat from the flame needs to draw the wax through the wick before it will really start burning nicely. Also, is there any decoration directly near the wick? Try to gently move them aside to expose just the wick and the wax. Make sure that the very first time you light your candle, you allow it to burn long enough for a full wax pool to develop- until the wax is melted to the edge of the jar. This will prevent any tunneling.

Do you accept refunds or exchanges?

Being a small business, I do not accept refunds or exchanges of any kind at this time.

Can I reuse the glass container?

Yes- of course you can! I highly encourage you do as well. All of my containers are multi use and reusable. When your candle is done burning, you may clean the vessel with hot water and soap and use it for your own purpose.
